Mountain bikes are used by riders off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially adapted mountain bikes or hybrid cross-road bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain. These include front and rear suspensions, plus other speciality bike parts. Mountain biking can generally be broken down into multiple categories: XC Cross Country, Trail Riding, AM All Mountain, DH Downhill, FR Freeride, Urban Trials, Street Riding and DJ Dirt Jumping. The vast majority of those riding mountain bikes fall into the recreational XC and Trail Riding categories.

Road bikes are known by a number of names but are mainly used by cyclists on roads. Road bikes tend to have drop handlebars and multiple gears, although there are single and fixed gear varieties. Road bikes also use narrow, high-pressure tyres to decrease road resistance, and tend to be lighter than general purpose bikes. Road bikes include Race Bikes, which are used by professional racing cyclists like those in the Tour de France or those of use simply trying to emulate them. Road bikes also include Touring Bikes, which are more robust and built with comfort in mind for the longer journeys they are expected to cover. They are also built to be able to carry heavy loads for those long trips.

Motorbikes, or Motorcycles, are two-wheeled motor vehicles, and as such are simply motorised bikes. Motorbikes vary considerably depending on engine size and design, and the primary task for which they are designed. Bikes are designed for long distance travel, navigating congested urban traffic, cruising, for sport, racing and for off-road conditions. Motorbikes are constructed in many ways and as such, bike parts are specific to each manufacturer. Motorbikes are the most affordable form of motorised transport, which makes them the primary motor vehicle in many parts of the world. There are believed to be around 200 million motorbikes across the World and as such, around 200 million Bikers - ride on brothers!
