Whereas a road bike may only have ability on a paved road, mountain bikes can freely enter both arenas. However, let’s take a look at some of the most popular trails in the West Midlands for mountain bikers.

Chase Trails is one of the most popular mountain biking trails in the country located in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire. It is located in between Stafford, Cannock, and Rugeley, juxtaposed in between. The variance in landscapes of open heathland and intermingling forests with additional professionally maintained mountain bike trails has given the Chase Trails a reputation for a superb cycling experience across the spectrum from beginners to adults. There are options for cross country, downhill, and leisure cycling in the area, and there is also bike hire shops available and even Chase trail maps so you can know the best spots to ride. The website maintains its own forum for people to hook up and talk and find out how to cycle together for fun. Chase Trails was started by volunteer mountain bikers who gave up countless hours in starting it up and also contributed lots of money to building it. It is both physically and technically challenging and difficult to go through, but the mountain bikers essentially tailored it to just how the liked it.

There are a few other routes in the area like the Birmingham Edgebaston Canals Cycle Route that gives people a good view of the historic canal route, the Sutton Coldfield to Abbots Bromley Cycle route that resembles the other Sutton to Abbots Bromley route, the Sutton Coldfield to Stonnal Circular Cycle route that is homogenous road route with tons of hills similar to the other route that borrows its name partially, the Sutton Coldfield to Erdington and Wishaw Circular Cycle Route, and the Coventry to Leicester Houghton On The Hill Cycle Route. Each has its charms.
