Mountain Bike World Cup 2012

Action from the 2011 World Cup at Leogang (Sebastian Schieck)

The venue for the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup 2012 has been chosen as Leogang, in Austria. The 2012 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships will be held from 29 August 2012 to 9 September 2012.

The bikepark successfully hosted its first Mountain Bike World Cup stage in 2011, this, combined with continuous development of the trails plus the success of events like the Out of Bounds festival, convinced the UCI that it was the right choice for the 2012 World Cup.

President of the UCI, Pat McQuaid, said: “The World Cup, which for the first time this season took place in Leogang, received great feedback from all sides and I’m truly confident that the Worlds will be extremely successful too.”

A new cross-country course will be built in preparation for the 2012 event, which will be available for the public to ride once the professionals have left.

Peter Donabauer, CEO of Saalfelden Leogang WM GmbH, said: “Leogang already is Austria’s hot spot in the mountain bike downhill and freeride segment. We’ll welcome the athletes from all over the world with open arms and make sure they feel right at home with us!”
