The Newnham day in the dirt is split into two different races, there is a 30km race and a longer 60km race. The 60km race is by far the most popular with over 300 entries. Over the two days there are a lot of things for you to enjoy. Saturday is the final round of the British XC series. This brings many of the worlds best mountain bikers to Plympton to take part – there is even an Olympic champion going to be taking part.

Throughout the day on Saturday there will be trail displays going on, in the evening there will be under 12 races and a live band to enjoy. These are all 100% free to attend. On Sunday the races begin at 10am. Both the 30km and the 60km routes go over moors, public land, private land and on roads. There will be service stops along the way with food and water for those who are taking part.

As well as this there will also be plenty of bike races, camping, cream teams, coffee, free kids races, live band and even a party! With so many different things going on over this weekend event you will be lost for choice.

You can even stay at the event for free. Camping is free from Friday afternoon to Monday morning for any one who is taking part in the event. Around the camping area you will discover toilets, showers and catering. Getting to the event is very easy to, from Plympton there are clear signposts marking the way to the Newnham Park and the mountain bike event.

This event is sponsored by Shred Magazine, Goodness Shakes and Devon country council. You will also find additional sponsorship at the event, often giving things away for free or letting you try out their new products. Newnham have just announced that 7 of the UK’s most popular bike brands will be attending the event and allowing people to try out their 2011 bike range for free.

The 30km track that the Newnham mountain bike enduro goes over is quite breath-taking. You will be able to ride across the moors, up hills, down long roads and through the mud.
