The Specialized Hotwalk Runner is a bike for young children who are just learning the basics of riding without stabilisers. It will help them to develop the ability to balance and ride freely without them having to simultaneously devote some of their concentration to pedalling. Despite its essential simplicity the Hotwalk is made with the same care and attention to detail as any other bike in the Specialized range. You can enjoy quality construction and materials for a bike that will suit riders of between two and five years of age.

Specialized Hotwalk Runner 2011 Overview

Teaching kids how to ride a bike can be a nail biting experience. When they have the support of training wheels or they are still riding tricycles, there is less of an issue in terms of balance, but as soon as they feel ready to take to two wheels on their own any parent can expect to see some scraped knees and teary eyes. The Specialized Hotwalk Runner attempts to bridge the gap by creating a platform, which allows the child to keep their legs free to provide support or stopping power when they feel like they are losing balance. As such, there is no chain to power the back wheel and no brakes, which keeps the weight of the bike down. It also allows the rider to focus on learning the necessary skills to help them move on eventually to fully fledged bikes in the future.

The Specialized Hotwalk Runner has a red and white design on the frame, fork, saddle and handlebars. This bright finish will appeal to children in the target age group and will also make riders easy to spot, so if they explore a little too eagerly, you should be able to keep an eye on them. Although this is a basic bike from a technical standpoint you still get inflatable tyres to provide a comfortable ride.
