Specialized Tricross Review
The Tricross range from Specialized incorporates some surprisingly versatile models which work well on the tarmac and are just as capable if you fancy taking them onto dirt tracks or uncharted terrain. Light yet rugged alloy frames are matched with plenty of mounts for mudguards, which you might well need if you are feeling adventurous.
The standard Tricross comes with an A1 Premium Aluminium frame which is new for 2014, featuring a double-butted setup and internal cable routing that keeps things clean and composed on the outside. Tektro cantilever brakes, Shimano Claris drivetrain components and AXIS Classic wheels work well in this context.
A Body Geometry Riva Plus saddle sits on Cr-Mo rails for comfort and lightness and you also get a Specialized Sport seatpost and Comp alloy handlebars with a shallow bend for optimal positioning.
Specialized Tricross Sport Disc
The Distance Commute Geometry of the Tricross Sport Disc’s alloy frame may sound a little functional, but it is anything but boring once you are onboard, allowing for impressive acceleration and off-road composure.
You get Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes at the front and rear on this model, along with a Shimano Sora drivetrain. AXIS Classic Disc wheels are wrapped in Specialized Borough CX Armadillo Elite tyres, which are particularly durable to reduce the chances of punctures occurring.
Specialized Tricross Elite Disc
The alloy frame and fork combo comes with the same Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes as found on the mid-range bike in the Tricross family, but you also get a Shimano Tiagra drivetrain to help lower the weight and improve the speed of shifts.
AXIS 2.0 Disc wheels are combined with the Borough CX Armadillo Elite tyres and there is a good degree of adjustability across the bike to help you accommodate your dimensions onboard.
