Trek Domane 6.9 and 6.2 Road Bikes Review

A bike from the Trek Domane series is the choice of professional rider Fabian Cancellara, but a celebrity endorsement should not be the thing that sways your decision (it probably wouldn’t anyway!); you need to look at the vital statistics. The Domane 6-Series models are equipped with a high end carbon frame and a gaggle of appropriately impressive components, giving you long distance comfort over tricky surfaces, like to cobbles of North Yorkshire, home of the start of the 2014 Tour de France.

Trek Domane 6.2

The 600 Series OCLV carbon frame of the Domane 6.2 is designed to be as efficient as possible given its intended use. It is laterally stiff and has a wide bottom bracket to help with stability and power transfer, while the IsoSpeed fork irons out the bumps in the road and the IsoZone pads on the handlebar do even more to absorb vibrations before they reach your body.

The drivetrain and brakeset consists of Shimano Ultegra components. The wheelset uses the Bontrager Race Lite rims, along with the R3 Hard-Case Lite tyres for enduro-oriented performance.

Like many of Trek’s high end road bikes this model is compatible with DuoTrap sensors and also comes with discrete mudguard mounts for those who want to expand upon the basic setup.

Trek Domane 6.9

The carbon frame may be identical to that of the 6.2, but the Domane 6.9 has plenty of additional features onboard which mark it out as an even more capable machine.

The drivetrain is built using Shimano Dura-Ace components which, as the name suggests, are very resilient and reliable even after extended use.

The wheelset features Bontrager Race X Lite TLR wheels and this company also contributes the Affinity Race X Lite saddle and IsoZone handlebar, both of which are tuned to up the comfort level even further.

If you have tried a more basic range of endurance road bikes in the past then you will be pleasantly surprised by the benefits offered by this prestigious range.
