We’ve seen a boost in the number of cyclists on our roads in recent years, with many people rekindling their love that probably first started when they were kids. A lot of people dusted down their slightly forlorn bikes this year before realising a quick splash of WD40 probably wasn’t going to do the trick, leaving them to look for a new bike. Road bikes like this Eurobike XC7000 and the Eurobike XC550 have seen big sales increases as people search for low cost options.
The XC550 and the XC7000 are very similar and we will look at the specifications, price and design in this review.
The Eurobike XC7000 Road Bike has good customer feedback, ratings & reviews, and is even on the Amazon best sellers list of road bikes. The XC7000 is supplied with Shimano components, commonly seen as the best bike components. Eurobike XC7000 Features
The XC7000 is an eye-catching design, and is available in a choice of colours; red, white or blue, although the latter is predominantly black with blue detail (see below for images). The deep rim wheels are likely to catch your eye too, and whilst these look great, be mindful of cross-winds with these wheels. Unlike it’s cousin (XC550), the XC7000 does not come in a choice of wheels, with Eurobike favouring the standard multi-spoke design.
After the admiring looks, observers will hopefully also notice you whizzing past them as you get the most out of the lightweight aluminium frame. At just 12.7 kg (28 lbs), the XC7000 weighs less than the XC550, which comes in at 14kg (multi-spoke rims) and 16kg (3-spoke mag wheels). The primary difference between the Eurobike XC550 and the XC7000 is the frame material, steel vs aluminium.
Eurobike supply the XC7000 with 700×28 tyres, which are standard road bike tyres, although you can retro fit 32mm tyres should you prefer, making this perhaps better for cross-country paths or commuting. The additional width (32mm) is more capable of coping with the additional road dirt and rain on our roads.
The XC7000 is available in just one size, 54cm, which would suit adults and children who are looking for a medium size frame, aimed at people around 5′ 6″ to 6′ 0″ (165cm to 180cm).
Eurobike have fitted Shimano components to the XC7000, starting with Shimano SL-A050 shifters to manage the double front Shimano derailleur, Shimano Tourney rear derailleur and movement of the 14 gears. The front chainring is a standard double, 34/50T. The rear cassette has a gear ratio of 14-28T which compares to a standard cassette of 11-28T so you’ll be fine uphill but may run out of one gear on a fast downhill.
Overall, the Eurobike XC7000 is a good bike, with quality Shimano components and good value for money.
