Scott E-SUB 20 Electric Bike
The Scott E-SUB 20 is an electric bike with a forward thinking set up that does not make you choose between technological advancements and stylish appeal. It benefits from a design that will accommodate the modern urban rider and their daily schedule, powered by an electric motor that will pull you along whenever required without being so obtrusive as to spoil the bikes’ poise or looks. You can add extras like a rack for your shopping bags or brief case, although this is not included in the basic retail version.
The frame is slender and Scott has housed the electric motor atop the bottom bracket so that it does not set the bike off balance whenever you ride it. This means the whole thing handles very well and will be near indistinguishable from other bikes in the range, which lack the motor when you are just powering it with the pedals. The assistance of the electric motor allows it to come into its own and whilst forward motion is always a positive thing, the presence of disc brakes from Shimano will be a real benefit.
The Scott E-SUB 20 is all black from its frame to the casing of the motor itself. Black mudguards and a forward facing light complete the look. It may be a little formal but it actually gives the bike quite a retro look, which seems to have come about as an accident of its design rather than as an intention of the designers. As I mentioned earlier, you can add your own rack to the rear to which you can attach items that you cannot carry whilst riding. This will help if you want to commute or go shopping but it would have been nice to see these little extras included in the package at this price, not set aside at an additional cost.
