Trek Slash Review

The mountain bikes in the Trek Slash range are intended to be very versatile, offering a good blend of uphill capabilities and downhill precision in a full-sus setup that is targeted at serious riders. The brakes and suspension work together to ensure the bikes remain composed even on very technical trails and the use of 27.5-inch rims is built into the frame design.

This is a bike that’s built to get down hills, not up them. As such, the groupset isn’t as important as it is on other bikes.

Trek Slash 7

The Slash 7 comes with an Alpha Platinum Aluminium frame, which features down tube armour to deflect debris along with a RockShox Pike RC fork up front and a Fox Evolution Series Float shock at the back. In total you get 160mm of travel and the full float setup is good at dealing with treacherous terrain.

SRAM X7 and X9 components are used for the drivetrain and Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic disc brakes are managed by the Active Braking Pivot (ABP) that helps to prevent stiffness in the suspension when you are bringing the bike’s speed under control.

A Shimano SLX drivetrain and XT brakes are also onboard to boost the credentials of this well appointed mountain bike.

You even get the Bontrager Rhythm Pro handlebar to round off this trail bike. And as with its stable mates it also has the Mino Link system built in which lets you adjust the frame geometry to meet your needs.
