Trek Stache 8 and 7 Mountain Bikes Review

The Trek Stache hardtail mountain bikes are on hand to help you during those singletrack trail runs that could pose problems if you are not equipped with the right cycle for the job. Alloy frames, weight-reducing geometry and 29 inch wheels define these models.

Trek Stache 7

Trek uses its Alpha Platinum Aluminium technology for the frame of the Stache 7 and its better equipped cousin. G2 geometry is able to provide surprising strength, while the mechanically formed tubing keeps the weight off without weakening the bike or sacrificing stiffness.

A RockShox Recon Silver fork sits up front, with TurnKey lockout letting you use the full 120mm of travel or firm everything up as and when required. Bontrager alloy hubs, tubeless ready rims and XR3 Expert tyres make the wheelset rugged and reliable.

SRAM X7 and X9 components go into the drivetrain, with a Race Face Ride crank with Turbine outer ring also in use alongside a Shimano HG62 11-36 cassette.

Shimano M445 hydraulic disc brakes are also in the list of components, alongside a Bontrager Evoke 2 saddle on chromoly rails.

Trek Stache 8

A number of notable improvements are made to the Stache 8’s spec list, chief among which is the Fox Evolution fork which is damped in such a way to let the bike behave amenably in climbs, straight trail sprints and descents.

The drivetrain includes Shimano SLX and XT Shadow Plus kit, while the SLX series is also used for the hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear.

Trek offers an extended range of sizes which go beyond the standard industry measurements to ensure that customers of different physiques are able to invest in a Stache range mountain bike and not feel that they are having to make do with a less than ideal fitting.
