Scott Voltage YZ 30 2011 Mountain Bike

Scott Voltage YZ 30

This lightweight, low cost mountain bike from Scott is definitely one of the more interesting options on the market for the 2011 season. It has a choice of two colour schemes, with basic black for those who want a subdued look, to vibrant orange for the more extrovert riders who want something with a bit of individuality. For a relatively small amount of cash the Scott Voltage YZ 30 can provide solid performance across a number of surfaces, perhaps defining the classic phrase, ‘cheap thrills’.

The heart of the Scott Voltage YZ 30 is its frame, constructed from hydroformed alloy tubing that is both lightweight and strong. A front fork from Suntour provides 100mm of travel to cushion the impacts of jumps and rocky terrain whilst the 160mm Tektro Novella mechanical disc brakes give you stopping power on which you can rely. The frame looks as chunky and solid as it sounds on paper, with quality workmanship shining through on a bike that is as well engineered as those that cost several times more.

It is slightly mysterious that Scott chooses to give buyers the option between multiple colour schemes on only a few of its cycles, but thankfully the Voltage YZ 30 falls into this category. I have to say that the orange option, despite how over the top it may sound, is actually a lot more interesting and subtle than it suggests, which at this end of the market is sensible, as you will probably be looking for a fun little run-around that will look good on the street or off road./p>
